Pros: Beautiful Scenery; Nice Campsites; Great Facilities
Cons: Rude Staff at entrance gate; Poor/non-existent Cellphone signal.
The Bottom Line: Overall, Palo Duro is above average in my e-pinion. I would stress strict adherence to park rules (not so bad), and prepare for a rude encounter at the entrance.

| ersity's Full Review: Palo Duro Canyon State Park |
Palo Duro canyon is truly a Diamond in the West Texas rough. Geographically, it offers tremendous views unparalleled by anywhere other than the 'Grand Canyon'. Texas Parks and Wildlife did a wonderful job planning and implementing facilities for this park, which includes:
secluded campsites, Store/Grill in middle of park, good hiking trails, & clean bathrooms.
Unfortunately, our visit was marked by a rude older lady at the park entrance. Many times, park administration can make or break a visit. She was not rude enough to ruin a trip, but we will always remember it. Above and beyond everything, remember three things when visiting this park:
1. Prepare for steep grades when towing a long trailer
2. Be sure to make it into the park before 10pm, if by chance you venture into neighboring Canyon or Amarillo for food, shopping, or entertainment.
3. Make sure that any visitors to your campsite are gone by 10pm, as visitation is strictly enforced.
