"Texas", a musical pageant of historical events in the
Panhandle area of Texas around Amarillo, is staged in an
amphitheater at the bottom of Palo Duro Canyon, using the
canyon walls as a back drop. The production is well
done, with a spectacular "Storm In The Canyon", with a
man made lightning bolt and thunder, and the "Prairie Fire"
ballet scene is just another spectacular. There is a bit
of "ham" and "corn" in the production, but if you are still hungry, they have a barbecue dinner served picnic style before each performance. Unless, you are from Timbuktu or
Karachi, don't plan on winning the award for coming the farthest distance. When we attended one performance, there
was a group from Italy. They had been previous visitors to
the Panhandle area of Texas........as Prisoners of War during World War II ! "Texas" is usually sold out for each performance, so advance reservations are a must, but don't miss it !
