VERY DECENT 450 AMP JUMP-STARTER (FOR SMALL TO MEDIUM ENGINES) AND GENERAL POWER SUPPLY

Pros:Very Decent small-to-medium car jump-starter and 18Ah Gen Purpose Power Supply!

Cons:Older 18Ah battery.
No Built-in Adapters storage.
Only one 12VDC Socket.
Better Battery Indicator.

The Bottom Line: There are FAR FAR WORSE models out there.

This is a real solid performer within its capacity and capabilities!

REVIEW:

Good Portable Jump-Starter (for 4 cylinder engines to some mid-sized engines) and a decent 12VDC and USB General Portable Power Supply!

This was used for a couple of smallers vehicles, like a Subaru Legacy AWD wagon, like a Ford Escort, etc.  

Power-wise this was good for small 4 cylinder engines thru mid-sized engines (BUT NOT FOR LARGER ENGINES!).  

You need more power for larger engines!  If you have a pickup or a medium to large SUV for instance then you need a LARGER / HIGHER CCA and PEAK CAPACITY unit than this one!!!

My primary use for this though, is for prospecting/recreational gold mining during the warmer months and, as a backup to my other general purpose 12VDC and USB power supply, and when needed to provide booster or jumping of vehicle batteries during below zero weather...  as I already have another of this kind of device although that one is a different brand and older model.

So as the above statement shows, this unit performed quite well for its size.

OUTLETS:
One 12 volt DC cigarette lighter style socket/outlet and one USB port/outlet.

USB port is handy to power/recharge cellphones and power/recharge other USB connectable devices - 5 volts DC at 500ma MAX!

This Battery Jump-Starter is equipped with a 12-volt DC power socket. It can operate some 12 volt DC (automobiles, RV, marine or other portable) appliances that draw less than a total of 10 amps from the 12-volt DC power socket.

However the jumper cables can be used to provide a third connection and a higher capacity connection at that.
Jump Cables 12 volts DC at 450CCA (Cold Crank Amps) and at a PEAK of 900 Amps.

BATTERY:

Immediately after bringing this home you need to plug this in to the 120 volt AC wall adapter and leave it alone for at least 36-40 HOURS, in order to charge the battery up.  

Always fully charge the battery according to manufacturer's instructions before using or stashing in vehicle for later use.  
DO NOT KEEP THIS TYPE OF BATTERY IN A LOW NOR PARTIALLY DISCHARGED NOR FULLY DISCHARGED CONDITION, KEEP THIS TYPE OF BATTERY FULLY CHARGED AT ALL TIMES!

However, to get better performance and longer lifespan out of ANY of these Jump-Starter units SLA-AGM battery - I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you then connect this to some kind of 12 volt DC load (like a 12VDC fan, or 12VDC TV, etc.), operate/discharge it until the unit's built-in battery indicator shows only a red light, and then recharge it fully.
 
WHY?  Because you do not have ANY IDEA how long the battery was on various shelves, nor do you have ANY IDEA how long the Jump-Starter (with the battery inside) was also on the shelf!

When these SLA-AGM batteries sit on the shelves they steadily discharge over time, and this causes sulfation (http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/sulfation_and_how_to_prevent_it).

Therefore, by charging and discharging these SLA-AGM batteries a couple of times after you bring it home, you deal with the problems of long storage on one shelf after another.  SLA/AGM batteries are well known for this problem.
 
If you do not keep this battery in a fully charged state, then the battery will suffer early major SULFATION (which means early battery death!).  This type of battery has an average lifetime of 2 to 4+ years if properly kept charged.

(NOT PROPERLY DEALING WITH THE FACTS OF SLA-AGM BATTERIES CAUSES MOST OF THE COMPLAINTS ABOUT UNITS LIKE THIS ONE BY OWNERS!!!)  All acid based 12V batteries can benefit from the occasional use of a BatteryMINDer to deal with sulfation.

BATTERY NOTE: Instead of the included 18Ah battery, I really wish they would have included the 22Ah battery of the same dimensions, 22Ah batteries are NOT THAT MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE!

BATTERY INDICATOR LEDS:
RED, AMBER/YELLOW, GREEN #1 and #2 -
Both green LEDS lit up, means the battery is fully charged.
1 Green and/or Yellow lit up, means the battery is partially charged and should be recharged.
Red lit up, means the battery is in need of a full charge cycle.

POLARITY INDICATOR LED:
DUAL COLOR - GREEN and RED.
Green indicates you have the jumper cables correct connected, and Red indicates that you have the jumper cables on backwards.

CHARGING INDICATOR LED:
While the Battery Jump-Starter is recharging, the red LED charging indicator will be lit.

AIR PUMP:
This one does not have an air pump.  
My experience with units which included air pumps is VERY SIMPLE...  
STAY AWAY FROM ALL JUMP-STARTERS MODELS WITH BUILT-IN AIR PUMPS!!!
 
Instead, get a decent separate 12VDC air pump and plug it into this unit or another unit like this one, YOU WILL BE BETTER OFF AND YOU WILL HAVE THE AIR PUMPING YOU NEED WHEN YOU NEED IT.  Unlike the built-in air pumps some models include (which die out within an hour to two hours of use, EVERYTIME!!!).

My experience has been quite good, but I always charge and discharge these things a couple of times before I put it in the vehicle for the winter.  If you do not, then you will kill your battery and get lousy performance.

WISH LIST:
01. 22Ah battery instead of 18Ah battery!

02. Built-in areas within the unit to store the AC adapter and the 12V DC adapter.

03. A pair of 12 volt DC cigarette light sockets/outlets, instead of only 1.

04. A better indicator of battery condition.  Sadly, EVERY model of Jump-Starter like this one, suffers the SAME problem.  the battery condition indicator measures only battery voltage, not the true battery condition!

05. A PWM (Pulse Width Modulator) on the 12 volt DC cigarette light socket/outlet (for better energy control) and  on electric motors/etc. and to provide speed control. PWM provides from 0% thru 100% power control with high effiency for many 12V DC appliances.
