Tiki Cat Puka Puka Luau Succulent Chicken in Chicken Consomme Review

Written: Mar 28 '13
Pros:all meat
Cons:price
The Bottom Line: Tiki Cat Puka Puka Luau Succulent Chicken in Chicken Consomme is one of the best foods I have ever purchased for my cat. We both love it.

I discovered Tiki Cat Puka Puka Luau while researching premium foods for our cat Tinkerbelle. Tinkerbelle is not just a spoiled cat, we needed to change his food because he kept getting sick all the time. While premium foods are a necessity for a cat with health issues, they probably would keep health cats from developing health problems if they were fed instead of dry foods.

While you may have been convinced by your vet or pet food marketers to think that dry food is what your cat needs to be healthy, don't believe it. Remember that major manufacturers of such pet foods are also providing curriculum for most of the main veterinary schools. I had to unlearn everything I thought to be true in order to help my cat.

Description:

Packaging: Tiki Cat Puka Puka Luau Succulent Chicken in Chicken Consomme Canned Cat Food comes in either 2.8oz cans or 6 oz cans. I usually buy the smaller cans by the case to save money. The cans all have pull tops that are easy and convenient to open. You can get this food in a case alone or in a variety package. I like buying the variety packs so that I can feed my cat variety without purchasing ten cases of food.

The Food: Tiki Cat Puka Puka Luau is a great premium canned cat food that consists of whole shreds of chicken rather than mushed up ground food. The chicken shreds are in a broth but there are no fillers grains or starches. In addition to the chicken and broth, the food also has all the supplements that a cat needs to be healty, on a cooked food diet. The shreds of chicken are substantial enough that your cat will have to do some chewing to eat this.

Ingredients: Chicken, Chicken Broth, Sunflower Seed Oil, Fish Oil, Dicalcium Phosphate, Choline Chloride, Taurine, Vitamin E Supplement, Zinc Sulfate Heptahydrate, Ferrous Sulfate Monohydrate, Thiamine Mononitrate (Vitamin B1), Nicotinic Acid (Vitamin B3), Calcium Pantothenate, Vitamin A Supplement, Potassium Iodide, Manganese Sulfate Monohydrate, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Copper Sulfate Pentahydrate, Riboflavin Supplement (Vitamin B2), Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (Vitamin B6), Folic Acid, Vitamin B12 Supplement.

Our Experience

My Thoughts: Tiki Cat Puka Puka Luau is one of my favorite foods to give Tinkerbelle. I love that this food is truly starch free. Many foods have caught on that people are looking for grain free but they replace those grains with other starches to stretch the food out and be able to give you a product for less money. Starches are sugars and can be just as bad as grains for a cat. Cats are carnivores and have no need for carbohydrates. While some veggies can be beneficial for cats, they really just need meat and moisture. Tiki Cat Puka Puka Luau gives you just what the cat needs and nothing that he doesn't

Tinkerbelle's Thoughts: Tink laps this food up. He enjoys chewing on the strips of chicken and I feel that by feeding him no starches his teeth stay cleaner. I always find it interesting when people say that dry food cleans their cats teeth. This could not be further from the truth. Crunching dry cat food just adds to tartar build up on teeth. Have you ever eaten dry cereal? Tell me how clean your teeth are after eating it? Then try eating just chicken.

We feed Tink three servings a day and while he has yet to turn down any of the premium foods we have given him, he particularly likes this one. Honestly I think he prefers variety. when I give him the same thing for a few days in a row and then introduce something different he acts more interested. I guess variety truly is the spice of life, even for cats.

Final Thoughts and Rating

Tiki Cat Puka Puka Luau Succulent Chicken in Chicken Consomme is one of the best foods we have ever purchased. This food gets five stars from me for being quality, grain free, and starch free food for cats. I can not think of a better food to feed my cat.

Thanks for reading my review
