Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros:Accurate, Comfortable, Fits well, Can be used for running, swimming or any endurance sport
Cons:Only works with Nike+ Sportwatch GPS, Nike+ iPod nano or Nike+ Sportband
The Bottom Line: I recommend this product to athletes that are serious about their training or those that want to monitor their health and progress.
Just an initial note – this product is listed under many different names. I am reviewing the Polar Wearlink Transmitter for Nike+ products. There is a very similar heart rate monitor that is incompatible with Nike+ products. Beware before buying; be sure you are purchasing the correct heart rate monitor for the watch or device you have. This is a Nike+ Heart Rate monitor review.

I got the Nike+ GPS Sportwatch Powered by TomTom two years ago as a birthday present. About a year later, as an avid member of the running community and through gaining more knowledge about training, I decided I wanted to invest in a heart rate monitor. Well, there was only one choice for me if I wanted to continue to use the same watch: the Polar Wearlink Transmitter.
At first I was discouraged because that meant I had to pay Nike’s price for a heart rate monitor. More than $60 for a very specific heart rate monitor that I could get at most sport stores for around $20. However the price is probably the only unpromising aspect to the Polar Wearlink Transmitter.
Comfort and elasticity
As advertised, the Polar Wearlink Transmitter conforms to your body shape. Once you have been wearing it for a few minutes, you barely realize it’s on you. The chest strap is made of polyester, polyamide and polyurethane. It is extremely comfortable and does not itch or chafe as most heart rate monitors do. This heart rate monitor has a hook mechanism that easily fastens into place.
I have recently let a teammate wear the Polar Wearlink Transmitter. He is about 40 pounds heavier than I am. After using this product once he bought one for himself the next day! Therefore I believe, in my experience, this product is very versatile and adapting to an individuals body shape.
I have not had to replace the battery and it has been almost two years since I have started using the Polar Wearlink Transmitter. The only maintenance I do suggest is washing the heart rate monitor as the product instructions recommend. Also, the fabric strap is machine washable and the transmitter is actually detachable. So if you need to or want to wash the strap, you can simply take off the transmitter.
Use and Website
First you need to wet the electrodes and sync the Polar Wearlink Transmitter to your Nike+ product. After doing so, you are ready to go! Your heart rate will show up on your Nike+ product. Also, after you are done with your exercise, check out the Nike+ website to see your heart rate statistics. The website will give you a graph of your heart rate and how it changed over time. Another great feature is that you can view other heart rate stats such as viewing how it changed over the past week, month or year.
The Nike+ website now has features that allow you to compare your heart rate to other users in the Nike+ community and can get as specific as comparison to different ages, genders or locations!

Important Suggestions: Summary
-Ensure you have a compatible Nike+ product for the Polar Wearlink Transmitter

A few months later and another cross country season in the books! I have had new experiences with this product and wanted to add to my initial review, which can be found above under Use and Website and Comfort and Elasticity.
Another anecdote to add to the cons of this product came from using this product during the first snow of the year and cold days thereafter. Lately, the heart rate monitor has been taking a longer time to sync to my Nike+ GPS Sportwatch Powered by TomTom. It usually sync's within seconds, but lately has been taking a minute or more.
Thanks for the read,
