Re: Connection (Reply to this comment)

Having just set up a new wireless modem-router myself, I learned that there can be bit of a learning curve with these devices. One time, I had moved and rebooted the device and all of a sudden, it stopped transmitting wireless altogether! That shocked me, so I called Netgear and the tech pointed me to a very small, brown button on the modem above the ethernet ports. Apparently, I had pushed that button and didn't know it. When I pushed the button again, the router started broadcasting again.
You have a different brand than I do, but I'm wondering if there's a broadcasting button on your model which is turned to the "off" position.
Well, it's worth a try! Sorry your freebie didn't work for you. I would take it back to Micro Center and get another one.
Cheers,
Jennifer

Connection (Reply to this comment)

I realize that this crapped out on you, but how did it work before it started dying? Did it connect as well as your old router? Was the speed about the same? Any stories you can tell about that?
You might have gotten a bad unit, but someone else's may actually work for a while. They might be interested to know what they can expect for the performance of this unit.
Let me know if you update, and I will come back to re-rate.
