Pros: nice flavor; chocolate crisps; good ingredients
Cons: too expensive; not enough protein
When I found a variety of nutrition bars on the discount table at the grocery store one day, I grabbed a bunch. I had grabbed a couple of flavors of something called a Pria bar, and one was Mint Chocolate Cookie flavor.
Pria bars are made by Power Bar, and are a more feminine version of the brand. The flavor I chose, Mint Chocolate Cookie is 0.98 ounces or 28g. It's advertised on the front as being 110 calories. All signs point to this being marketed to women.
The bar is long and narrow. It has a light and airy texture, and a bit of crispiness inside. Of course, that light and airy texture reduces calories because there's not as much to it. The texture isn't bad, it's just not as satisfying to me as a more dense bar. But, if you're looking for a lighter option, then a Pria bar might be just right.
The Pria Mint Chocolate Cookie Nutrition Bar tastes just like the name suggests. About even amounts of both flavors, combined pretty well. It's sweet but not overly so. It tastes pretty good, as long as you're a fan of mint chocolate.
The cripsy pieces in it are chocolate, and that part really enhances the overall flavor of the bar. You can really taste that part and it's quite yummy!
Iingredients and Nutritional Information
For exact and up-to-date iingredients, it's best to check out the actual product. I will mention that when I purchased the Pria Mint Chocolate Cookie Nutrition Bar, the iingredients were devoid of artificial sweeteners, high fructose corn syrup, and preservatives.
One bar is 110 calories and 3.5g of fat. It also has 1g fiber, 9g sugar, and 5g protien. For me, that's not enough protein for a food of this type to be worth the money.
Pria Mint Chocolate Cookie Nutrition Bars are enhanced with vitamins and minerals as well, and in decent amounts.
I ate this and was still hungry. In fact, it didn't satisfy like other nutrition bars normally do. Simply too little protein and fiber. It's best for a very light snack or paired with something else.
Cost and Availability
Normally, a bar like this runs $1.00 (or could be more) and I think that's absurd for what it is. That's on the low end of an average price for nutrition bars, but it's too much for what you get. I paid half that and still felt like it was a bit high!
The Pria Mint Chocolate Cookie Nutrition Bar had a good flavor, and the crispiness in the texture was kind of fun, but it's not worth what they charge for it. Even on sale it's too expensive, I think. If I'm going to eat a nutrition bar, I want more protein and more to it overall. I can't recommend it, it's more of a waste of money than anything worthwhile.
I also tried and reviewed the Pria Double Chocolate Cookie.
