Pros: Same Speed (if not faster) than Intel
Cons: Fraction of the cost
The Bottom Line: Bottom line, I will never buy an Intel Chip again until they wake up and start dropping their prices on new processors.

OK, in case you haven't noticed, a Lexus is really just a Toyota Camry with a fancy little emblem on the hood and some added Luxury features...OH, and it costs at least twice as much.
Well, the same seems to hold true with AMD and Intel...AMD is pretty much the same exact speed and performance that you get from Intel, but Intel chips cost about twice as much.
OK, I have used mostly Intel Chips in the past. I also work for Sony Electronics providing technical support for computers, and until the last model line of notebooks Sony used all Intel Chips. When Sony started using AMD chips in some of the last model notebooks, I decided I would check it out and see what the difference was.
So i went in and upgraded my old EMachine with a Celeron (celery?) 400 MHz processor, I added a 1 GHz Asus Motherboard and an AMD Athlon 900 MHz processor. I decided to try AMD because the same speed Pentium 3 processor was over $200, and the AMD chip cost me $110.
The difference between the two chips is hardly noticeable, if it is noticeable at all. The chips run basically the same, but I think the AMD actually runs better, but that might just be because I am so disgusted with Intel's prices.
I guess that is about all I have to say about that - I put a Gigahertz board and a 900 MHz processor into my system for just about $200...I challenge you to do THAT with an Intel product...
