dr_eggs's Full Review: APC Back-UPS RS 1500VA (BR1500) UPS System
I have owned APCC UPSes for many years and this is the first model that has been a lemon. I bought it through the APCC Trade-ups program because the RS 1000 was such a nice performer. The first RS1500 they sent me had a loud crackling noise coming from the back when it switched over to battery power. They replaced it with another one that still had the same electrical crackling noise but it also just shut itself off at random. I mean it just shut down. Turned its green power light off and then rebooted, just no battery power while it did it. So, after much haggling with the customer service people, who wanted me to troubleshoot it for them at my home by pulling the wall plug with my computer fired up to see what happened, they relented and sent me yet another one. This one looked like it already been returned from someone else, but it lasted for about three weeks before it turned itself off, too.
So I'm done with APCC products, and the support staff.
Don't buy this one, something is seriously wrong with its engineering.
