Discogirl's Full Review: Absolut Vodka Citron - 1 liter
Absolut Citron is a very high quality 80-proof vodka with a distinctive lemon flavor. Vodka is my favorite type of liquor, and I have definitely tried my fair share of brands, including Skyy, Smirnoff, Stolichnaya, and Travelers Club. While I do enjoy Stolichnaya and Smirnoff a great deal, I have to confess that Absolut is the best.
There is no vodka that goes down smoother or mixes as well. I love to mix it with tonic water and lime to make a refreshing lemon-lime flavored vodka tonic. Absolut Citron goes wonderfully well with orange juice in a strong screwdriver. While Absolut Citron is a great mixer, the best way to really experience the smoothness is to drink it straight. I love to do lemon drop shots. (Drink a cold shot of Absolut Citron, and then suck on a lemon wedge dipped in sugar. This is a very sweet, delicious, tangy shot.)
Absolut Citron is very versatile and can be used as a marinade for grilled meat or fish in any situation where you want to add a little zing to your food. I recommend that you serve Absolut Citron at any occasion where you really want to present a high quality liquor. It does cost a little more than some of the other brands, but it is worth every penny.
If you are going to serve vodka in some way in which you will be masking the taste with other ingredients, then it might be suitable to use a less expensive brand. Be wary though! Cheap vodka often has a flavor resembling that of rubbing alcohol, and you may catch your friends wrinkling their noses in disgust. In this case, you definitely get what you pay for.
