The biggest mistake I see novice graphic designers make is trying to use Photoshop for a job Illustrator should be doing. Illustrator is a must-have for anyone creating logos or graphics files from scratch. PHOTOSHOP IS FOR PHOTOS!
Now, I'm done ranting, Illustrator is a great tool, provided you have the creative imagination needed to get everything out of it. It isn't easy to use - the complexity of our creativity requires a less-than-simple-product, however a few lessons will have you up to speed. I can't recommend this product enough for anyone creating graphics files - it's perfect for the internet or for publishing (I use it for web and catalog).
