If this camera were actually carried in the pocket, it would not last long. However, it fits perfectly inside a hardshell eyeglass case easily available anywhere for a few bucks. This makes it "perfectly portable".
Image quality is excellent within the camera's range of light (no low light, please) and if the images are used for computer or TV display. Images taken with this camera and transferred to VCD and viewed on a 54 inch big-screen TV actually looked as good as can be imagined. If you want to make good paper prints, however, don't bother. I'm quite happy with this camera since I never expected it to produce prints.
I have only used this camera for its digital still ability, so I have no comment on the video or webcam abilities.
Using the pictures? Installation of the software was very easy, and the TWAIN driver works well with other graphic programs. I was also able to easily write my own programs to work with this camera.
Cons? This has been promoted as a spy camera, but it beeps when pictures are taken. Due to the tapered design, the battery cover slips off too easily. The previous of Pencam was excellent at closeup shots, while this one requires some distance. A function to "delete last picture" would be a cinch to add to this, but it is missing. The camera eats batteries if they are left inside. There is round warping at the edge of the pictures.
