Pros: Looks great, no filter, quiet and great warranty
Cons: Expensive, need to keep it on all the time, some hate the smell
The Bottom Line: If you can afford it, buy it. Seen some clones which may work as good.

| igglue's Full Review: Sharper Image Ionic Breeze GP SI730 Air Purifier |
I've owned various versions of ionic breeze. From the original, then upgraded to quadra, then to gp, and the other to gp professional. You've read many things about this thing and as my ex-fiance owned a cat and I had really bad allergies I can tell you that this thing works. But having two for half a decade, I have to tell you that you need to know how these things work to take full advantage of it.
First of all, does it really work? It really does. I was in a midst of renovating a kitchen, and I ripped out a large section of a dry wall using a circular saw and the room was completely white. I quickly dragged my ionic breeze, and turned it on. Five minutes later, the white dust was completely gone, and my ionic breeze was whining and the collection grid was completly white. Everyone can imagine how bad dry-wall dust can be. Yes it whines, but it means it's working. Who's complaining that the collection grid acually gets dirty from all the cleaning?
For all those who expect miracles, here are thing you should know:
1. You can't have your windows open. Ionic breeze is meant to keep a room with low dust movement clean. If you have a nice breezy room this isn't the thing for you. But in fact, nothing outside of super large fast moving HEPA filter stuck right in front of the window (if it even will do the job)really does the job. As anyone with allergies know, the last think you want is an open window. When I open my window, I turn my IB off as I know it's just more chores waiting for me.
2. You do need to clean it 1-2x a month or more. I clean mine once a week. If it's dusty, it needs to be cleaned more often. People have complained about this. It's like complaining that it does the job. More dust and you will need to keep it clean. But cleaning takes only 2 minutes. Is that too much to ask? Imagine how often you'd have to buy the expensive HEPA? You should be smiling thinking how much $$$ you just saved!
3. Save and use the cloth they give you. I've used paper towels, regular towels, sponges, and running water. The only thing that really worked was running water until they started to add the gray scotch brite towel with the ionic breeze. This is the best thing for it. Trust me, I've had various version and tried everything. Don't loose that grey towel!
4. Don't turn on when the scented oil is lit. It leaves a grimy film on the collection grid that's really difficult to clean. Not only that, it'll stick to the wires, and in between the places that'll kill your IB. I've had to crack mine open and clean it several times and it was never the same. Same goes for scented candles. Clean it quickly. If you have hard time removing (lost your grey cloth from #3), then use dish washing soap, luke water and gently washing it off the collection grid.
5. Don't turn it off! IB doesn't work like a light bulb. It needs to stay on all day and night to work. Just flip it on, and never turn it off.
6. Don't hesitate to bring it back to Sharper Image. I've returned one of mine 3x and I keep upgrading it! I bought my first, then upgraded to quadra, then to gp. I own two right now. They have the best warranties, and one of the biggest reasons I recommend Sharper Image is their warranty. It's the BEST.
I hope this really helps everyone. I remember the first month with my Ionic Breeze. I felt more refreshed and rested as my system got the break it needed. You will truly enjoy IB, and Sharper Image will back it up for 5 years.
Good Luck!
