Pros: cleans the air pretty well, helps some allergies, silent, no filters
Cons: expensive, use carefully
The Bottom Line: If used carefully, cleaning properly and placing properly in a room, the Ionic Breeze GP exceeds expectations for some allergies and collects dust and dirt in the air.

| ralanj's Full Review: Sharper Image Ionic Breeze GP SI730 Air Purifier |
When we were married my wife's two small dogs, one is a Pekingese and the other about the same size, came with her. Turned out that I am somewhat allergic to them. My eyes would burn and lungs would get congested. On December 30th we purchased the Ionic Breeze GP, with the ozone guard. Within 12 hours the air in the house was cleaner and I could breathe easier. The air was not as clean as it was without dogs, but maybe 90% clean. After 36 hours the air seemed pretty fresh and my symptoms largely abated. This may sound odd but even the Pekingese seems to breathe easier since we put the Ionic Breeze in.
We did notice an odd odor which seemed to come from the Ionic Breeze shortly after we started using it. The odor might have been the ozone or the converted oxygen but the odor was not overpowering and didn't last long. Occasionally the odor returns but it's very mild and, again, doesn't last long. The odor seems to be most noticeable when we're using the UV. We don't run the UV all the time. Usually we run the UV once every one day for about 10 hours. (The blades seemed to have an odor and it could be that we noticed that smell when the unit was first used.)
One odd thing we noticed was that the air seemed to be "charged" on an evening just before we had a windstorm. We'd just cleaned the blades, but the effect was unusual even for newly cleaned blades. I figured it had to do with atmospheric changes as well.
We clean the Ionic Breeze about every 5 days. We can usually tell when it needs to be cleaned because the air is not as fresh.
I have a couple of friends with serious allergies who have older versions of the Ionic Breeze. They were quite surprised when I asked them if they'd had headaches. They've had none. They did mention that it makes noise, a hissing sound, when it needs to be cleaned but aside from that they've found it very effective. (In addition to the Ionic Breeze they have electrostatically charged air filters for their heating and air conditioning units. One uses a HEPA certified vacuum cleaner as well. This probably helps the Ionic Breeze do it's job.)
