| djpark's Full Review: Aiwa XP-SP910 Personal CD Player |
A few years ago I my old personal CD player broke. I decided I didn't want something that would break like that again, and I also wanted something that I could go out and run with, and I found the Aiwa XP-SP910. I got it at what I thought was a cheap price (60.00) at the Wiz's going out of business sale. In the last few years that I have used it here is what I have found to be the major pros and cons.
Pros:
- You can select how long you want the Anti-Shock to work. You can choose 48 seconds, 12 seconds, or none. I usually choose none unless I am in a bumpy car ride when I will choose 12. When I am running I choose 48 seconds. The CD player pretty much never skips because of the anti-shock feature. If you want to conserve the battery then you can choose the 12 seconds or none instead of the 48.
- I have found that the batteries last a long time. I have used it on a trip down to Florida and back (over 20 hours) on 1 set of batteries. The CD player takes only two AA batteries and the battery thing is located inside the player so that the batteries will not accidently fall out the bottom if you drop it or something.
- It appears that the CD player is built tough. With all my usage and dropping it and what-not it has not broken. In fact the CD hasn't even fallen off the spinner thing. To make sure that it stays closed if it were to fall, Aiwa put a little spin lock located on top of the player to lock it closed. Aiwa also put rubber on the outside so that if it falls I guess that will absorb some of the shock from the fall and prevent it from getting destroyed.
- The unit is also very easy to use. Everything you need is at a touch of a button. It is simple to get it started and do whatever you need. You can put it on hold so that none of the buttons function by flipping a switch located on the side.
- The sound quality is also great out of this player. I always turn on the bass thing so that the bass is more powerful and it sounds clear with the headphones it came with. I turn it up fairly loud if I want to walk around without the headphones on my head and still do not hear any distortion.
Cons:
- The only major problem I have found is that it is just a little to big to fit into my pockets. I can get it into my pocket, but it is a hassle to get out because it is just slightly too big.
- This may be a con if you do not like this type of headphone, which I don't care but it could be. The headphones that it comes with are the type that go around the back of your head. Some people may prefer the old school ones that don't do that. Since you can use either one as long as it's the regular sized plug it doesn't really matter. I couldn't care either way, in fact I prefer the ones that rap around the back so that if I have my hair gelled it won't mess it up.
