Pros: Sound Quality!
Bragging rights...it's expensive and Alpine's top of the line.
Cons: Cooling fan audible when volume is muted
Not easy to use
The Bottom Line: If you're serious about sound quality competition, buy this radio. You will not regret it.

The above reviewer states that this radio is overly complex, and it is, for the average consumer. But, let me make one thing perfectly clear: This radio is not for the average consumer! If you want a radio that has simple bass/treble knobs, why on earth did you purchase a $550 radio? Buy a Pioneer from Walmart if that's what you want.
This radio is definitely for the timid. If you paid somebody to install your stereo system in your car, then this radio is probably not for you. This stereo caters to experts. It has a parametric EQ that lets you tweak how each individual frequency responds. It gives you the ability to completely shut off the built-in amp and use outboard amps completely. It lets you configure time alignment of your individual speakers. Meaning: You can tell the stereo how far each speaker is from your ears. The radio can make adjustments in the timing of the signals to compensate. I had a Clarion unit before this one. The Clarion was extremely complicated, but the sound quality was absolutely amazing. This unit is even more complex, but seriously ups the ante for sound quality, in comparison to the Clarion. It truly is THE best head unit I have ever heard.
I will be honest. This head unit is made for use in SQ (Sound Quality) competitions. It lets you tweak many things that most radios would never do. If you have to pay somebody else do do your sound system, and have no idea how to even hook up a car stereo...then this radio is PROBABLY not for you. Be warned. You'll never see me making bad reviews of various nuclear reactors on this site, just because I have no knowledge of how to run one. ;)
