| hipgnosis's Full Review: Alpine CDM-9821 Car CD Player |
I bought this Alpine to replace a dead factory head unit and I am very pleased with it. The replaced head unit was the Dodge Durango 100 watt premium sound system with eight Infinity speakers. I was happy with the sound before but the difference is amazing and makes the factory speakers sound better than ever. The sound is much clearer with great separation and definition to the music. I have also found that the FM receiver is better at picking up distant and/or weak signals than the factory receiver.
I looked at comparably priced head units from Pioneer, Sony, JVC, Kenwood, and others before deciding on this one. Of course there are units that have more bells and whistles but what I wanted was a unit that was simple to use while driving and delivered great sound.
The other manufacturers offered some good products but I kept coming back to this one. It offers the features I wanted, the buttons have a solid feel to them, and the volume knob is easy to grasp. The display was better than the factory unit during the day and was not overly bright or distracting at night.
You can spend more money and get more bells, whistles, graphics, etc. but if you want a head unit that is solidly built, delivers great sound, has easy to use features with classic good looks, you cant beat this unit.
