| capt-luck's Full Review: AOC LM 914 19 inch LCD Monitor |
I recently purchased this unit and have had the privilege of using it for about a week. I must say I am truly impressed with the units performance. Starting off the unit is completely dark grey (almost black), has a thin (1/2") bezel, and very clean design with the two speakers located on the upright part of the stand (almost hidden), which adds up to a very attractive unit.
When it comes to the display itself, colors are very vibrant and true. I have watched DVD's on this unit and they looked great, colors looked just as good as when I watched the movie on my 32" Sony Trinitron TV.
The brightness is awesome at 250cd, I had to turn it down and I am using it in a well lit room. I don't understand the need for an LCD unit to be any brighter than this (have seen other LCD's at 300cd). Text also looks clear.
This unit has two speakers that blend into the upright part of the base instead of taking up room on the bezel leaving a cleaner thinner bezel and speakers that are almost hidden. I must say the speakers performed better than I had expected from built in speakers, they are loud and clear. Not the best for watching movies but great for listing to some music while you work or normal computer audio use.
There is not much I would change about this unit, however there is no perfect monitor or anything else for that matter. The changes I would make would be mostly to the stand, I would prefer to have the display rotate on the upright of the stand instead of having to move the entire base. I also like the idea of being able to spin the screen to use in portrait mode.
The menu leaves allot to be desired, it is a bit cumbersome, you only have three buttons to perform every function of the menu so each button has 2 to 3 functions that change with each selection in the menu. Once you get use to it it's not that bad.
The last small complaint is the Power Button, if you bump the button the unit turns off but to turn it back on you must press & hold for one second. I think this should be backward.
Overall none of these are major in any way. It was harder thinking up the negatives than the positives.
Other than a few small complaints this unit is a great unit!
I am completely happy and would purchase this unit again without thinking twice.
