Pros: Great flat screen picture for bargain price! Includes DTS and dolby digital output.
Cons: Awkward remote. TV shuts off even for simplest of DVD operations including loading and ejecting
The Bottom Line: Apex delivers very good small TV w/DVD for bargain price. I would recommend it if you need a small TV/DVD somewhere.

| shopaholic_man's Full Review: Apex Digital GT2015 20 inch TV |
I wanted a basic small TV to watch in the bedroom, and saw this Apex with a built in DVD for only $200.00. I had never heard of Apex, and I usually stick to name brands. However, the store had a 30 day return policy so I took a chance. Not only didn't I bring it back, I bought another Apex with the DVD player for my office waiting room. For a small TV this is an outstanding bargain. The picture quality is terrific from cable or the built in DVD player. Its a flat screen CRT TV and I have to say the color and picture sharpness is terrific. At the 20" screen size, you can't get much more picture clarity even with HDTV, but you certainly can get a lot worse. The sound is typical TV sound (read: not that good if you turn it up too loud), but you can run coaxial digital cable out to your surround sound receiver and get DTS or dolby digital sound. The APEX does have some drawbacks, which I view as more in the realm of quirks rather than problems. Setup of the set can be a bit of a pain, you have to go into a menu system and follow along to make sure that the outgoing signal is set to DTS/dolby digital. Save your manual so you can do it! You also have to turn the DVD player on to do any DVD function, including putting a DVD in, or ejecting a DVD. The TV shuts off when the DVD player is on. Its also a tad on the slow side. My other complaint is the remote functions for the DVD player. Unlike the standard button surrounded by four arrows that most DVD remotes have, the Apex has tiny little buttons hidden in a recessed area of the remote for standard DVD menu options. The Apex set has inputs including s-video, but it does not have component video input. Again, I would note that on a set of this size, I doubt that component video input would make much difference. If you need a small convenient TV for a bedroom, a guest room or office and don't want to spend much at all this little Apex fits the bill.
