Pros: Cheap.
Cons: Battery packs, Car charges, Constant need of remote.
The Bottom Line: Spend the extra money initially and get a different player or else you will spend the money later keeping this one working.

I purchased five of these portable DVD players from Walmart for my five children for Christmas. The day after Christmas, I was in the return line at Walmart because one of the five didn't work at all. Upon even exchange, all five seemed to work fine. Until . . . one of the five continuously freezes up. To fix this problem, you need to restart the player. Since there are not fast forward buttons on the player itself, you need to keep your remote handy to get yourself back to the spot the DVD froze. An incredible inconvenience for a Mom with five kids scattered about a Suburban. A different one of the five has it's battery break right off of the back of the player. They are kept in well padded, sturdy cases . . . and his battery just was too heavy for the little pegs that held in on. Our solution, duck tape! Two different ones of the two already discussed above had the little silver thing inside the battery pack break off inside the charger. Now, the battery and the charger is junk. The kids can still plug these ones into a car charger, but the car chargers have a habit of blowing their fuse. All in all, we keep a nice supply of fuses available to keep the players working. I am very disappointed in the purchase. If I had spent an extra $20.00 per child, we may not be in this boat. I have been in contact with Apex, but $55.00 to replace a battery that couldn't do it's original job for a full-year seems ridiculous for me. As stated above, you get what you pay for, but I wouldn't have paid $5.00 for the headaches these have and are giving me.
