The Bottom Line: Apple product integration truly shines in the iPod. Heartily recommended for Windows or Mac.

| mdlarson's Full Review: Apple iPod 2nd Generation 10 GB (MAC) MP3 Player |
I bought this iPod as a way of carrying our entire CD collection with on vacations and well, wherever. It's been a year or so, and I've only managed to fill 8 GB so far (ripping CDs to the computer is the holdup.)
I don't understand how some people crab about the huge capacity hard drive based MP3 players have to offer. There's something to be said for having your entire CD library in the palm of your hand, totally accessible in seconds. The 8 GB worth of music on my iPod right now is equivalent to a cardboard box full of CDs weighing about 30 pounds.
I probably use it 2 to 4 days a week at work, and anywhere from a few minutes to the whole charge at a time. I've heard of some people having problems with their iPods "dying" on them - maybe I'm more careful, but whatever the reason, it continues to be a good performer for me.
I dropped my iPod twice on a hard floor and the only evidence I can tell is a small dent on a corner. My battery continues to have a good charge. I haven't used the wired remote since a few weeks after I got it; maybe I just prefer to see the song titles and artists I'm going to listen to. The included "clip case" was functional until I broke it on my jeans when I was getting out of my car. :) It could have been more durable; and it doesn't even cover the entire iPod like a good case would.
iTunes integration on the Mac couldn't be easier (except with the new dockable iPod.) Plugging the FireWire cable into the iPod and my computer automatically opens the iTunes application and syncs recently ripped CDs automatically and FAST.
