graham692's Full Review: Apple iPod 3rd Generation White (10 GB) MP3 Player
Growing up I have always been a true Microsoft fan, I guess growing up on those kinds of machines kind of locks you in. Now that I have matured a bit I am seeing the diverse problems with Microsoft ranging from software to management. Anyways, that is the largest reason why I stepped away from Apple for such a long time.
My revelation came when the Apple Store at International Plaza opened. Being curious I stepped in to see what today's Apple's are like (last Apple I had was a IIe). I was astonished by them and especially by the wild iPod from what I have heard so much about. I, on the spur of the moment, purchased a 10 gig iPod to just "test it". I have never been able to look back since and I am now planning on truly dumping my windows world when I leave for college in a few a years.
The iPod is slick with its clean interface, wonderful backlight, and strong construction. It can fit easily in your pocket without any intrusion that is if you are in today's baggy style. I have my whole MP3 collection on my iPod although I may have step up to a new 4g iPod soon. iTunes is another big plus, although it lacks some songs I would like, it is awesome software with a good store and it’s directly linked to the iPod.
The cons are as many have pointed out is the batter problems the 3g iPods has been having. My large downer is how clunky it is with Windows, which I can only blame on myself for not having a Mac. Price is another factor, but it is worth it I think. The standard headphones are average at best, I do encourage the purchase of the new special iPod head phones (not included).
Overall I am hooked and think everyone in America should have one. When you buy an iPod I must warn you, that you do join a cult and sometimes receive harsh feedback from non-iPoders (who I think are jealous).
