Cons: poor battery life. apple service is awful!!!
The Bottom Line: The battery will die and you will need to deal with Apple service. Apple service is the worst I have ever seen.

I bought this ipod just over one year ago. As soon as it was 13 months old the battery died. I went to the local Apple store expecting to have the battery replaced under the extended warranty. I had to wait 2 hours for an apple "genius" to speak with me. Apple has a bizarre policy that they will not allow you to drop off your ipod and have the "genius" simply call you back when they are free. You have to wait around their "genius" bar until the, (in my case), in-store tech idiot is free. I imagine that this policy works great for the very young looking to take a day off from school. Maybe it is loved by the very old simply looking for an afternoon of companionship. And, it certainly works fine for the unemployed. The rest of us have better things to do than to wait around for the Apple “genius”. No wonder Apple never made serious inroads into the business world. They simply do not understand the value of their customer’s time.
In my case, I had taken the day off from work so I decided to wait at the genius bar. After 2 hours, the genius explained that it was probably my fault that the battery died. Most likely my charging habits. However, I am very aware of the proper charging procedures for lithium ion batteries. And I assured the idiot behind the counter that it was certainly not my fault. After 3 days of testing the Apple geniuses determined that the battery was in fact defective and they issued me a new ipod.
I have been using the new ipod for about 2 weeks and I noticed that something inside the ipod was rattling around while I ran. If I choose to keep this piece of garbage, I will have to return to the store, wait 2 hours for the idiot bar, have the apple idiot tell me that this was somehow my fault, leave the ipod for 3 days, they apple idiot will most likely call me back to tell me that possibly the battery is loose inside the ipod. Unfortunately, I have a job and clients and simply don’t want to waste my time again.
