Pros: Small, lot of memory, nice appearance
Cons: Everything broke. Was easily fixed but I would have rather it not broke. Earbud headphones
The Bottom Line: Great piece of machinery as I'm sure you know. I would recommend it to anyone.

| ciarabro's Full Review: Apple iPod 3rd Generation White (15 GB) MP3 Player |
I love my ipod. It's an amazing piece of machinery for a music obsessed person such as myself, but I'm going to start off with the things I read in other reviews before I bought it, that I never had problems with, and then I'm going tell you which one's I've had.
The Myths:
First I'm using my ipod with Windows and I heard from several places (mostly epinions) that there were some problems with that. Well not for me. The ipod programs loaded fine and I was up and running smoothly after my first try.
I also heard that musicmatch jukebox basically sucked. Well I haven't had a problem with it yet. I loaded the program onto my computer with no problems from the enclosed cd, and I transfered songs onto my ipod, easy as pie. My whole music library right there in minutes. I love musicmatch, and while I used to be a die hard winamp fan you just can't beat the musicmatch radio stations when I don't feel like listening to anything in my 2000 song library. So, no problems there...oh, wait one problem. When I have jukebox open, I sometimes can't take my computer off mute. I have to close the program, un-mute it and then open it again.
The Problems:
Well I've turned into a frequenter of the Apple store which to me isn't a bad thing cause it's just a cool store...but i've been there 4 times for problems and that's a bit much.
Problem 1: It just wouldn't turn on. This wasn't long after I got it. Maybe 2 months. When I took it in, it seems that it was frozen on the button lock. When I flipped the switch to unlock it, nothing happened. Took my baby to store and lost him for 10 days. Not cool.
Problem 2: The connection on the remote that hooked into the headphones came loose. I could hear fine if I just connected my headphones directly into the ipod but otherwise I kept having to jiggle it to hear anything. Apple replaced the remote, no problem...but this did mean another trip to the store
Problem 3: The ipod wouldn't turn on again. This was a pretty small problem. I took it to the store and they said that it had frozen, drained it's own battery and just needed to be plugged back in. They were right. Recharged it, and it worked fine again.
Problem 4: The headphones turned incredibly staticy. I was told that I blew them out with the bass...and that's entirely believable since I think I'm going deaf. So don't play them too loud in cold weather cause as the apple guy replaced the last part of my ipod that I hadn't yet gotten fixed, he informed me not to be too hard on them.
The only con in my mind about the ipod is the earbud head phones. I hate those type. They don't stay in my ears, they hurt after a while, and I like my head phones to keep my ears I little warm in the winter. Granted I could just buy my own headphones, which is what a lot of people do, but after spend $400 on an mp3 player I don't have the dough to invest in comfy headphones. I feel like $400 should get me some good headphones...but that's just my opinion.
The bottom line is though, I love my ipod and I'd buy it again if I had to do it over. It's so small it fits in my pocket, plus when I flew home for thanksgiving I didn't have to bring my cd player plus all my cds. All that bulk now fits into the palm of my hand.
And for all my trips to the apple store, service is fast, friendly, and they just keep replacing my stuff. By the time each piece broke I'd gotten them so dirty I was happy I had a reason to get a fresh new one.
