| raindownonme78's Full Review: Apple iPod 3rd Generation White (15 GB) MP3 Player |
I purchased the 15 GB iPod in March 2004. I did not know it didn't work with Windows 98 so I scrambled to figure out how it could be possible. I ended up installing a FireWire card and using a program called EphPod since iTunes was for Windows 2000 and up. All I wanted to do was listen to music but it took me 3 days before I could use my new toy! Be sure your computer meets the minimum requirements before purchasing.
The iPod delivers exceptional sound quality. I decided to go with the 15 GB since I own several hundred CDs. I have almost 3000 songs and there's still room for more. It's so nice to not have to lug around CDs anymore. I recommend investing in better headphones or ear buds since the included ones hurt my ears after awhile.
Operation is extremely easy, especially when you use iTunes to upload and organize music. The unit can be charge by connecting it to the computer or plugging it into the wall charger.
The battery life is supposed to be 8 hours, but i usually get 5-6 hours since I use the light and fast forward a lot. I think the 4th generation iPods now get 12 hours of battery life so that's a nice improvement.
There are literally hundreds of accessories available for iPods including cases, FM transmitters, spare chargers, and belt clips. The accessories can also be expensive and some are important, such as a case.
Overall, I really like my iPod since it has a protective case and different headphones. Apple has made improvements on the newer generations, so if you are going to buy one, go for the newer version.
