| formula93fbody's Full Review: Apple iPod 3rd Generation White (15 GB) MP3 Player |
Well I'd like to start my epinions career out with something that I'm quite knowledgeable about, that being electronics. Ever since the Apple iPod came out I've ALWAYS wanted one. Seeing people at school walking around listening to music on this tiny device that remarkably holds up to 5000 songs! I was in love.
Time passed by and I eventually picked one up from a friend for farely cheap. I got the 3rd Generation 15GB version. I was so happy I remember driving to his house giving him the cash then recieving this little used iPod with charger and USB hookup. I immediately went home to try it out.
Well let's just say hooking this thing up to your device is a snap...literally. Getting it to work on your computer without the iTunes disc....let's just say it's a whole different story. Downloading iTunes, configuring for 3 hours, don't get me wrong i'm definately internet literate and it still took forever to get this thing going with my computer. I eventually did, transfering songs was easy, I forgave Apple for the hard setup once I noticed I've had my library of 3200 songs on my little 4 inch iPod in less than an hour. So I charge the thing overnight and off to work I go.
It started out great, everyone asking what I was holding, listening to music while working, couldn't get any better. Well that was until 2 hours after listening to music it just dies from loss of battery life. Now this is where I started hating my iPod. I figure well maybe the charger slipped out from charging it OVERNIGHT. Wrong. Possibly something was wrong with the battery because this thing would not stay charged for the life of it and I just wanted to listen to it so bad, all of that time downloading files, uploading songs, charging it...for 2 hours of music. I could just go out and get a portable CD player and burn mp3 cds. To say for the most part the iPod is just a little trendy device that everyone wants to look cool but in all actuality it just doesn't cut it when it should.
Oh also the scratching and fingerprinting up from an ounce of pressure is ridiculous, i was probaly wiping the thing off more than I actually used it. I don't really drop things at all, but somehow my iPod got SEVERAL severe scratches on it from....listening to it.
So to wrap it up, yes iPods look awesome but are they really worth the 200$ price tag for a couple of hours of listening time?? I don't think so in my ...epinion
