Hello, and thanks for reading and rating! To answer your question, yes the iPod does come with Calender software pre-loaded. It also comes with a Contacts feature that lets you transport your entire address book to your iPod. Contacts allows you to add up to 4 phone numbers, address, emails, and a note about each person.

Due to the limitations of a 4-button control system, both Calender and Contacts require to add, modify, and delete your information before moving it to the iPod. Once loaded on your iPod, you can only view and search the data. You can sync calender and contacts info from PalmOS software (palm pilots or PDAs), Microsoft Outlook, Entourage, or of course all of Apple's programs such as iCal and Address Book.

If you have any other questions, feel free to send me an email!

Take care,
Openroad

Hi there...
I'm looking at purchasign an I pod as a gift, and was wodnering if there was any kind of calendar feature to keep track of meeting times and such. My husband is a huge "cutting edge" music fan, but needs something to keep him on track when it comes to meetings... this gadget would be a godsend if it did both..

Thanks for reading and taking the time to comment! To answer your first question, you CAN record CDs to the Ipod but you need to use a software program. Copying CDs to your computer is called "ripping", and once ripped into your I-Tunes library they are automatically loaded into your Ipod. You can't however load a CD into your Ipod on the road without being connected via cable to I-Tunes.

On to you 2nd question: The Ipod is VERY useful as a DJ music player, and you can make as many custom mixed playlists as you want. One minor quibble is you can't modify playlists on the Ipod, so you need to set them up on your computer before hitting the road. The ability to have instant no-skip access to over 450 CDs (on 20gb model) is really the perfect portable music system.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!
Take care,
