Pros: 10,000 songs in a handheld device - amazing! Playlists rock! Love iPod's interface!
Cons: Doesn't seem to work well on Windows 2000 SP4
The Bottom Line: If you own a PC with any OS other than Windows XP, do not purchase this product.

| djjimphilips's Full Review: Apple iPod 40 GB White MP3 Player |
This review is slightly revised... I revised it after some folks visited my initial review and helped me realize that I wasn't entirely clear on some of my points.
I purchased an iPod for my PC. I have Windows ME on my home machine -- the sales rep at CompUSA told me that I can use ephpod.com to download a patch, which would enable it to work on that OS. When I went to download this patch, it wasn't accessible because there was a security breach on their webservers. I then proceeded to use my corporate laptop using Windows 2000 SP4. I got it to work, but with some quirks. Here are some problems that I have with iPod...
1) iPod comes with one firewire cable, which doubles as a power cable. This was pain in the a** because the firewire port my laptop didn't charge the iPod. So, I had to constantly shuffle this cable between my computer and the included power plug.
2) iTunes crashed my laptop quite a bit.
3) My laptop only recognized the iPod about 50% of the time.
4) I Had problems formating the iPod hard drive.
I'm told that the iPod works fine with Windows XP, which I do not currently own. So for now, I think I'll return it. I since purchased a Dell DJ, which works well on both Windows ME and 2000.
