wyldedixie's Full Review: Apple iPod photo 4th Generation (20 GB) MP3 Player
First of all, I am completely and totally biased--I love absolutely anything made my Apple. I really believe in the concept of "you get what you pay for." I had wanted an iPod for quite some time--long before the fad began. I finally got one a couple of weeks ago. So far, I have not been disappointed.
Battery life: There have been quite a few complaints made about the battery life of the iPod. If you read the carefully written description of how much battery life you will get out of the iPod, it plainly states that the tests on battery life were done while the hold button was on, there were no pauses, rewinds or fast-forwards, and the backlight was turned off.
That being said, I think the battery life is pretty darn good. It sure beats replacing some AAA batteries in another mp3 player every couple of days. The one thing you do have to make sure to do is drain the battery about once a month. This keeps the iPod from maintaining a "memory" of the charge life.
Ease of use: I LOVE the click wheel. Taken from the iPod Mini, it makes perfect sense and is quite innovative. Scrorlling through tons of music can take a lot of time, but it takes less time with the click wheel.
Firewire: The firewire or USB option is great. I will say that the firewire is tons faster than the USB. I ended up buying a firewire card for my laptop.
Storage: Not only can you store music on the iPod but you can place notes, events, contacts, and it even has games. Storage capacity is a huge 20G. I've put almost 400 songs on mine, and I don't even have 2G filled yet. I won't delete ever again!
