hawkzx12r's Full Review: Apple iPod mini 1st Generation Silver (4 GB) MP3 P...
I purchased this iPod in December 2004 as a gift for my husband for Christmas. Of course, I had to be the one to get it up and running. Well, I followed the instructions in the iPod user manual, and all went well. Yes, it is long and drawn out. You've gotta wait for all your songs from Windows Media Player to be converted to the appropriate format for the iPod. The ones that are protected, cannot be (won't be put in iTunes library), If this happens, go to "FILE" on iTunes and click on "add folder to library" if you want to be able to have all your music you've got -in say, Winmx, go into your library in iTunes.
Anway, follow the directions to a T. My only WARNING is this: DO NOT update iTunes to the 4.7 version that is offered. Stick with the version that comes on the software disc with your mini iPod.
For me, all went well and my computer was loving the iPod and so was I---that is until I downloaded the iTunes update on the APPLE website. When I did this, my computer would restart when I opened iTunes and plugged in my iPod. It did this 5 times until I figured that the only thing I had done different since the night before was download the iTunes update. So, I had to end up uninstalling every shred of iPod software and reinstalling it, as well as re-registering my iPod with Apple. Talk about a migraine. I had a horrible headache from the stress and anger of that stupid iTunes update and what it had caused.
Everything is wonderful with the iPod now and my husband is extremely impressed with it.
WE RECOMMEND IT!!!!! YES, INDEED, WE DO!
