About Me: I am an author of contemporary romance, erotic romance, and forensic thrillers.

Realistically, would not use Magic Bullet for heavy duty preparations.

Pros:Great for making smoothies, protein drinks, and dips.
Cons:Will probably wear out sooner when doing heavy duty prep like chopping and grinding.
The Bottom Line: Easy to use. Fast preparation. Will encourage eating better foods. Fits into a busy lifestyle.

While browsing at a local Kohl’s Department store recognizing them from the infomercial ads on TV I noticed boxes of stacked Magic Bullets. The sign read buy one, get the second for half price. I was tempted to buy them right then and there but remembered I had a 10 percent coupon, which I left home on my desk.

The next night a friend and I enjoyed a nice Chinese dinner in the same shopping plaza where Kohl’s is located. Before leaving I remembered to put the coupon inside my purse. We went into Kohl’s and I noticed the Sale sign read differently, that the Magic Bullet was now on sale for 59.99. With the 10 percent coupon the price for both added to a few dollar’s difference. I bought two. My friend carried out one box, and I carried the other.

When I got home I opened one of the boxes and to my dismay discovered although the accessories were all there no Magic Bullet. I opened the second box and everything was there. I was quite annoyed to say the least. The next day I immediately took the box with the missing Magic Bullet to Kohl’s customer service, and got a new box containing accessories as well as a Magic Bullet. This taught me a lesson to always check inside a box before taking it home.

The second Magic Bullet I gave to my daughter-in-law.

The 17 piece Set should contain the following:

4 Party mugs with 4 comfort lip rings. (Meaning you can whip up a smoothie using the same container) These cannot be put into the microwave.

1 Tall cup – microwave safe

1 Short cup — microwave safe

1 Stainless steel flat blade for grinding and whipping

1 Stainless steel cross blade for chopping, grating, grinding and blending

2 Stay fresh re-sealable lids for keeping leftovers fresh.

2 Shaker tops for steaming foods in the microwave and as a coarse/fine shaker top

1 10-second recipe book

And last but not least: 1 High Torque Power Base.

This small appliance is quite easy to use. There are no buttons to push. Just fill up either a cup or a mug with whatever recipe you choose to try out, screw on one of the steel blades, then fit it into the top of the Magic Bullet and you’re all set. You can either lock it in for continuous action, or push down for a pulsating action.

You do have to be careful not to let it run too long as the instruction book warns it can burn out the motor.

This appliance I feel is not for heavy duty use. For example I would not use it for juicing as I already have a super duper Marathon juicer and can’t really see something like this extracting juice as well as a regular juice extractor made for that purpose.

I probably would not use it too many times for chopping nuts, as I already have a small chopper that specifically does that task. Then why did I buy this product?

I like the way it blends ingredients together, and the fact there isn’t a lot of mess afterwards. While over my daughter-in-law’s the other night, in a short amount of time, I would say in 20 minutes, we were able to blend together a guacamole dip, a bean dip, as well as make a cheesecake and topping, all which took little effort with very little clean up afterward.

This appliance is great for putting together something speedy and without much effort. This morning in the tall cup I put in egg whites, half of a tomato, a clove of garlic, quarter of an onion and made myself a nice omelet. Then in another cup I put in blueberry juice, frozen blueberries, frozen cranberries, some Kefir and in seconds blended a nice nutritious smoothie.

There are techniques to learn when using this appliance.

The pulse method, which is basically intermittently pressing down quickly and immediately releasing it is good for foods you want coarsely chopped.

The shake method, which is just that, shaking some of the thicker ingredients down into the blade, i.e. chicken salad or a marinara sauce.

There is the shaking and pulse technique where you give a strong downward shake to throw the ingredients into the blade, and pulse at the bottom of the shake, which they recommend using for salsa or meat salads.

The tap technique simply has you take the cup off the base, and tap the cup and blade assembly on the counter to get “sticky” ingredients into the blade.

The recipe book will tell you which technique is best for whatever you’re doing.

I like the way this appliance works. As I said previously, I’ll probably use it more to make smoothies, protein drinks, frozen drinks, as well as omelets that contain a variety of ingredients.

Cleanup is really a snap as everything (but the motor base) can go into the dishwasher. And it is especially timesaving for anyone who wants to eat well, but a busy schedule makes it difficult to prepare nutritious foods.

The Magic Bullet takes up a lot less space than a smoothie maker/blender I had sitting on my counter, which actually broke the other day.

All in all I am pleased with what I’ve done so far with this appliance. And I think it will last a long time, especially since I don’t intend to use it for heavy duty preparations.
