After seeing an infomercial about the Magic Bullet, my husband and I hurried to purchase one. I LOVED it! I found that making my beloved banana smoothies took much less time to make and with less clean-up required. My favorite part was how you blend the ingredients right in the cup you use to drink from! How convenient!

Then, however, while making one of my smoothies, the blender stopped blending. I called my husband to look at it. He tried the blender again and plastic pieces shot out at us! The black plastic piece that is attached to the base and spins the blade broke into pieces and flew off the machine, rendering it unusable. We had owned it only a few months.

I was extremely disappointed with the durability of the blender--after all, it cost $60-$75 and lasted only a few months. I must say though, that I began to miss the Magic Bullet before long, and purchased another one. I sold the new cups, etc. that came with it on ebay to help make up some of the money I had lost. I have not used it as much though, for fear of it breaking again.

In addition:

I found the juicer and blender attachments (that are optional) to be of little use and got rid of those.

I tried several of the recipes in the included cookbook, and they were all flops. I found it impossible to merely "chop" ingredients. Everything was turned to mush.

The one use I did find the blender VERY helpful with was any type of mixed drink or smoothie. The ease of blending and lack of cleanup make it perfect for this use! If you make lots of mixed drinks/smoothies, then I would recommend the Magic Bullet. If you don't, then stay away!
