Pros: The deluxe model has just about everything a basic user could ever need..
Cons: To many expansion slots are used by it.
The Bottom Line: I would get it because it is possibly the best AMD Athlon based motherboard for sale right now.

| devin_oates's Full Review: ASUS A7N8X Deluxe (A7N8X/DELUX D) Motherboard |
The motherboard is almost perfect. I purchased the deluxe edition, and it has just about anything you would ever need. It has SPDIF output, which for those unfamiliar with audio terms means that a single cable can be used to export the signal for you front, center and rear speakers, as well as for the subwoofer. For the standard headphone style jack, it has output for 6.1 surround sound. The dual NIC's are a nice feature for internet sharing for those with broadband. The integrated IEEE 1394 Firewire ports are another addition that is not found on most other motherboards.
The installation of the motherboard is straight forward. Just make sure to note that it is a larger motherboard than most, and requires additional support. This makes is good because it makes the board really solid to work on. The layout of the board is straight forward. The various ribbons and wires don't interfere with the heatsink. Software installation is easy under Windows XP.
Processor support for the motherboard is very extensive. At the time I bought mine, it supported everything from Athlon XP 1600+ up to Athlon XP 3000+. The installation of an Athlon XP 2200+ was simple. The board automatically detected the CPU speed as well as RAM speed and the speed of the AGP video card installed.
The only downfall to the board id that in the deluxe form, there are simply to many expansion slots used. It leaves very little room for add-on cards, becuase it requires four expansion slots. One for USB, one for gameport, one for SPDIF out, and one for firewire.
