biscuitfarmer's Full Review: Axe Invisibile Solid Anti-Perspirant and Deodorant...
There's nothing that I love more than having the feeling of a good smelling kitty litter right under my arms. This is exactly what happens when you use the Axe line of "invisible" solids. I'm not really sure how they are invisible, unless they mean you can't see the smell, because well, I guess you can't see any smells. But this product is one of the worst by Axe.
I tried this product, as I was looking for something that would compliment the body sprays that I have been using for quite some time. I wanted to use an under arm deodorant that would work as an anti-perspirant and deodorant in one, would go on clear, and would smell similar to the sprays. This would make my overall smell very well blended.
Unfortunately, it didn't quite work out that well.
How well does it glide on
Well, it terms of gliding on, generally I find that if I don't put it on immediately after a shower, or after a workout, I need to add water to make it go on smoothly. If I don't do this, it gets stuck on my arm and I have to give myself a deodorant burn trying to get it on adequately. So, adding hot water to it and shaking it off, I found allows it to glide on quite easily.
One problem that I have found, is that if you have even a little bit of under arm hair, you will have big issues with clumping. I generally don't have all that much if any at all, as it annoys me when it sticks to my arms during workouts. However, when it starts to grow out even a little bit, this deodorant, actually clumps to it, and during your workout, starts to flake off. This can be somewhat embarassng, if you are doing a bench press and everyone is looking at the white clumps of deodorant under your arm. Looks like little cotton balls hanging from your hair. Kinda looks like lice come to think of it. The little knits you get from it.
Essence Fragrance
If you like the Essence body spray, well, the fragrance in the deodorant is actually quite a bit different. While it does have the same basic smell for the most part, it doesn't really smell like they were meant to be together. The fragrance is somewhat more subdued and really doesn't do anything for me as a consumer. I think it smells like Old Spice gone horribly bland and wrong.
What the ladies think
My wife personally hated the deodorant smell. While she liked the fact that it was tame enough to allow the body spray to smell through, she didn't feel that the deodorant lived up to the Essence name of the body spray and she was extremely disappointed, as was I.
As an anti-perspirant/deodorant
While the smell isn't something that I really like all that much, I find that the product works excellent for it's intended use. It prevents myself from sweating pretty well, and does a great job eliminating odor. The only thing that you really smell is the smell of the deodorant itself and the body spray if you are wearing that along with it. So, for all intensive purposes, the product works great.
Final Thoughts
If you really like the thoughts of a product that goes on clear, but for the most part just clumps under your armpits, this is perfect for you. While the clumps can be pretty much eliminated if you completely shave your armpits, the reality is that most men do not, and this would just be a major inconvenience to the majority of male consumers.
I personally found the fragrance to be somewhat unappealing, however, it does it's purpose as an anti-perspirant and deodorant. It for the most part completely eliminates and hides odor, allowing you to worry about other things in life.
