| tfung's Full Review: B&W CC6 S2 Center Speaker |
The center speaker is the most important in a home-theater audio system. It handles the vast majority of the dialog and fills in the image where the left and right speakers leave off.
B&W's 600 Series 2 line includes two center speakers that are magnetically shielded like any decent center speaker. Thanks to the shielding, you can put one of them right on top of your TV, where it'll best do its job.
The CC6S2 is the less expensive of the two models from this line. The two midrange/woofers are identical, but they're crossed over at different points, making this a three-way speaker; the crossovers are at 400 Hz and 4 kHz. B&W rates the nominal impedance at 8 ohms and the power handling at 120 watts.
The more expensive LCR6S2 ($500 list) is rated to handle more power, sports larger 6-1/2-inch mid/bass drivers and delivers a frequency response going down to a considerably lower 58 Hz.
