Going into the liquor stores, there are so many different Rums to choose from. We went in knowing that we wanted Bacardi, but when we saw it, the Bacardi 151 stood out from the rest. With it's clear yellow tinge and it's proof of 151, we knew that this was the one we would try.
What is Bacardi 151?
Bacardi is a Puerto Rican rum that was established in 1862. It is a strong liquor with 75.5% alcohol by volume (151 Proof). That is almost double the amount of alcohol of regular Bacardi and other rums.
What can this rum do to you?
It can mess you up fast if you're not careful. Since it is stronger than other rums, it takes alot less for you to feel the effects. My Fiance, who hardly ever feels alcohol after drinking, was feeling pretty good after a couple of drinks of Bacardi 151. I'm a little person, so I don't need to drink much to feel good.
How should it be drank?
You can drink it straight or you can mix it as you would regular rum. I put a capful in a glass of Pepsi and it tasted perfect, although some people like it stronger. We also tried it with frozen Bacardi Strawberry Daiquiri mixer. That didn't turn out as well. The rum in that was too strong for our liking. My advice for this rum is to use your imagination and try it with different things.
What are some things you should consider?
Because Bacardi 151 has more alcohol, common sense would tell you that it is more flammable. In case common sense is on vacation that day, they put a warning label on the bottle. They advise you not to use it for flaming dishes and drinks. This drink will sometimes flare up and continue to burn with an invisible flame.
Of course, if you are pregnant, you shouldn't consume any alcoholic beverages because of the risk of birth defects. Even in early pregnancy, when some people think it's safe to drink, that can be the most harmful time to do it.
Another advisory is not to drive after drinking. Since it impairs all your senses. That is only common sense but I have seen people still drive after drinking. I don't need to tell you what can happen by doing that.
In Closing
Bacardi 151 is a nice tasting rum, and it's good if you want to get drunk or buzzed fast. Use caution when drinking and keep safe while having fun!
