dmd6671's Full Review: Beltronics Pro RX65 Radar Detector
The RX65 is one of the best detectors on the market. I replaced my Beltronic 985 with the RX65. I have had to make a few minor mods. I eliminated X band and K band, as K band went off every time I passed a store with an alarm system (which is every corner). I found out that in order to change K band "on" to K band "off" that the SWS must be set to "off". Laser detection is worthless with any detector. I went by a police car with a Laser gun pointing directly at my car and "nothing". I turned around and went by again and the same. I believe the only thing that will defeat or detect Laser is a "true" jammer.
The RX65 came with a telephone style connector which did not hook to my old 985 lead. Having the coiled cord that is standard hanging down the middle of the dash is just tacky and annoying. Beltronic will provide an adaptor that will splice the 2 together. The voice mode is low and even when turned to the highest level will still leave you straining to hear, especially when the radio is on.
All that said, the RX65 is as good as it gets and is well worth the money. There are better detector for your car, but will set you back $1500 to $2000.
