We bought this humidifier because it has warm mist, doesn't require a filter, and is quiet. It's got a 2 gallon tank and two speeds. It At the higher speed, the tank will last about 14 hours of continuous use. The dimensions are about 12" wide x 4" deep x 6" high, about the size of similar humidifiers. The tank is easy to refill; it lifts out of the base and the cap is on the bottom. Cleaning it is also pretty straightforward; use vinegar and water to get the sediment out of the reservoir in the base. Unlike other reviewers, we did not have a problem with leakage.
We used it in our baby's room and it was great, especially on winter nights when it helped keep the room warm. The room was 16' x 12' which is a little large for this kind of humidifier, but it did the job.
But one night about a year after we bought it, we smelled something burning and when we went into the baby's room, there were SPARKS AND SMOKE coming out of the humidifier's vent where the mist usually comes out. The on/off switch was unresponsive and we quickly unplugged it from the wall. Fortunately, our baby was fine and there was no damage to the room, but it was a frightful experience. When I called Bionaire, they didn't sound particularly surprised and offered to send me any Bionaire or Holmes (same company) humidifier model as a replacement. I asked whether they had this problem before, and the rep answer "not with this model." Hmmmm. Makes you wonder, doesn't it? We avoided Bionaire and got a Holmes warm mist humidifier, model HM8405RC-U. This retails for $59.99 but they sent it to us for free, and also paid for two-day air. This works okay so far, but be warned, it is very noisy. It makes a loud bubbling sound, like there is a pot of boiling water inside. I wouldn't buy Bionaire or Holmes again. I believe they've discontinued the CP2550.
