Pros: Affordable
Cons: Doesn't lift stains, pain to lug out everytime you need it, large to store
The Bottom Line: Not worth the money. Doesn't do an adequate job of cleaning up and is too heavy and bulky.

| SLTahoe's Full Review: Bissell 1715-8 Bagless Handheld Vacuum |
I purchased the Bissell Handheld Spot Remover after researching the spot remover tools here on epinions. I needed a device that would help me with cleaning up after my cats vomiting problem (yuck!).
I brought home my new cleaner and started to get to work on some stains on my carpet. I filled the canister and followed the instructions. First, the canister is hard to fill, making a mess. Secondly, the unit is large, heavy and hard to store when done.
I started to clean some minor gray stains on my white carpet that had been on the carpet for probably 1 month. The spot remover attempted to take the spot out but the problem I saw was that the bristles on the rotating brush didn't seem to move the carpet much at all. The carpet I was trying to clean was of a regular length.
I moved on to a different spot that was from that morning. The unit did a pretty good job of that spot, but didn't remove it completely. I tried some other spots on my berber carpet and the bristles didn't even graze the surface.
I also tried the unit on my white couch but didn't see any improvement. Another problem with the unit is that after you are done cleaning up anything gross, there is left over residue in the nozzle/intake that has to be cleaned out - which is pretty much impossible to do.
Since purchasing the unit 2 months ago, it has sat in my linen closet partly because it doesn't work well and partly because it's such a pain in the a** to lug out everytime there is a stain or mess.
I was looking for a compact unit that would help aid me in cleaning up after my cat and any other spillage on my white carpet. The Bissell Spot Remover didn't do it for me.
I guess I will stick to the traditional rag and carpet cleaner.
