Pros: Well built, long cord.
Cons: Poor cleaning compared to Hoover.
The Bottom Line: The Bissell is well built and easy to use, but none of that matters if it can't clean.

| hsuc's Full Review: Bissell 7950 ProHeat Upright Wet/Dry Vacuum |
I purchased the Bissell about 10 months ago to cleanup spit up from our newborn. I was fairly happy with it in the beginning, because up until then, the only carpet cleaning I had done was with the cheesy Resolve powder. Compared to that, the Bissell was a dream.
Fast forward a few months. The more I clean, the more I notice the large number of passes required to clean any significant dirt. Cleaning the baby room with it's accumulated spit up takes a good hour. I have to go over each stain several times with the detergent to get out the stains. Each time I use the detergent, I have to make at least two passes with clean water, and then dry it out. I am literally going over each section of carpet a dozen times. Even worse, it is now leaving soap and water even when I haven't pulled the trigger. Also, the trigger is sticky, so I have to play with it to turn off the water. Did I mention that it pulls up large amounts of carpet fiber? I literally have to pick up a handful in each room.
Fast forward 10 months. I now dread using the Bissell because of the amount of time to clean anything. I get desperate enough to consider the Rug Doctor Pro after seeing some informercials for it. The $800 price tag quickly points back to the Internet for more research. I ended up getting a Hoover Steam Vac Agility for $199 based on the good comments.
What a difference! With the Hoover, most stains are out in 1 pass! It's clearly picking up dirt that the Bissell had left behind as evidenced by the surprisingly dark water that it's pulling from my carpet. It's also leaving the carpet much dryer, despite the fact that I am not making multiple drying passes as with the Bissell. In the time it would normally take me to do one room, I have done several rooms and hallways in the house.
I know this sounds too dramatic to be true, but I am a bit stunned myself at the difference. I am sorry, but the Bissell is not even in the same league as the Hoover in terms of cleaning power. I only wish I had purchased the Hoover sooner.
