Navigation
The Blaupunkt TravelPilot RNS 149 is a navigational system that uses GPS (Global Positioning System) satellite navigation and a virtual digital map on a CD.
The same navigation technology can be found in cars like the Mercedes. Blaupunkt is the World's # 1 supplier of car navigation systems and with this system you can see why.
TravelPilot's are more accurate with positioning capabilities that will calculate your positions faster and more accurate then the competitors. It will show you ways around congested traffic, roadwork and roads that are closed. It won’t fuss at you like some other navigational systems when you take a wrong turn, it knows you may have done it on purpose.
Nine different regions on CD cover the US, Hawaii & Alaska make it number 10 and then there are two more to cover Canada. The list price for each CD is $225 and can be found as low as $75 if you shop around. This will give you very detailed locations and special points like hospital, police, gas, hotels and a lot more.
Voice spoken directions are in six languages that give you turn-by-turn guidance to get you where you're going fast and easy to understand as possible.
Overall
This is a beautiful and nice navigational system that is very accurate and easy to use and understand.
The list price is $1799 and can be found for $999 if you shop around. The cost of the unit and then the added cost of the CDs make this a unit for the rich. It is beyond my limits of spending.
An old school friend of mine had one put in a 2000 Corvette that he has. I was very impressed at the quality of the unit and how accurate it seemed to be on navigating. He has one CD of our area and it gave a lot of details that the GPS doesn’t provide. Also the sound quality of the FM radio and the CD player was great!
I didn’t get to play with it too much because he doesn’t live to close to me but what I did see, it is a nice addition to any car.
I highly recommend the Blaupunkt TravelPilot RNS 149 navigational system.
