Pros: light, pleasant taste, comes in a nice blue bottle :)
Cons: it's gin, too bad they couldn't make the gin the same color as the bottle... that would be great

| chebbah's Full Review: Bombay Sapphire Gin |
Back when I first started drinking liquor, I asked my friends to suggest a drink that didn't really taste alcoholic. Up until then the only liquor drinks that I enjoyed were Strawberry Daquiris and Midori Sours. I was definitely a "girl drink" fanatic. If I can't taste the alcohol then I am a happy camper. But I have to admit that I also felt, um, inadequate when we all went out drinking. All of my alcoholic friends picked on me and my fruity little drinks. I decided it was time to graduate to something a little stronger.
I hate brown liquor, I always have and I suspect that I always will. Occasionally I will drink a jack and coke, but it is usually at my boyfriend's urging. I secretly think he gets a kick out of watching me make faces and complain about breathing fire afterwards. So I knew that I need a drink made with a clear liquor, but I was puzzled as to which drink I should try first.A few of my friends were on a gin and tonic kick and they suggested having a Bombay gin and tonic. So I did. I was impressed. Now, I had tasted gin before and didn't really care for it,but this time around it seemed kind of okay. Maybe even a little better than okay.
I think that gin has a distinct taste and the only way I can describe it is that it tastes the way that freshly mowed grass smells. A gin and tonic tastes alternately like grass and like a flat 7-up. I think that all gin tastes like this, and once you get accustomed to it, it actually tastes pretty good. Of course, the better the gin, the better it tastes. When I have tried drinking a gin and tonic with a lesser gin than Bombay Sapphire, it tastes wretched. Sometimes it's so bad I can't even finish the drink, and for me, that's saying a lot. The cheaper the gin the more it tastes like you are chewing on a bunch of grass, or something like that. I am sure that someone out there is laughing at me right now, but I swear that this is the only comparison that I can think of. With the Bombay, a gin and tonic tastes sublime. Just the right mix of that 7-up kind of a taste with a little bit of a bite, and a hint of fresh lime juice. Perfect.
I would like to also say that I have never gotten a hangover after drinking Bombay Sapphire, but then again, I have never had a real hangover that I can recall. However, sometimes cheap gin will give me a headache while I am drinking it, or soon after, that has never happened with Bombay Sapphire, that has to mean something, right? I put away a whole bottle of the stuff one night and was in great shape the next day. ( For those of you who have read my other liquor reviews, though this may seem like a regular occurance for me, I am not, in fact, prone to drinking entire bottles of any given alcoholic beverage, I swear.)
I would definitely suggest this drink to others. However, it may not be the best for people who like to not taste their alcohol. You'll know you're getting loaded, it'll just taste so good that you won't care. I have since become something of a vodka fiend, but I still have a Bombay gin and tonic every now and then, just for old time's sake.
