Dishes are everywhere.....piling up. Get a Bosch Dishwasher?

Pros: Gorgeous design which is easy to keep clean, sanitizes dishes, energy efficient operation
Cons: no food grinding or garbage disposal features, stopped working altogether
The Bottom Line: A reasonably priced version of the energy efficient Bosch dishwashers. Had continuous excellent performance in this house until it died unexpectedly one day!

Bosch 24 in. SHX33A02 Stainless Steel Dishwasher
9/2006 Update -
A little over a year later and we are getting a new dishwasher. This little gem went haywire and stopped draining, then stopped filling, then stopped washing. Then it would not even turn off!
Despite the HORROR stories I have read about Sears and their customer service, I have much respect for the company! Even out of warranty, they are exchanging this dishwasher for either the same one or another of our choosing with less than three days turn around and NO hassle. I am amazed!!!
The rest of this review reflects my opinion before this incident, but I wanted to make sure and let you know that while I did love it and it served us well, it did not last!
The remodel continues, but the dishes are done……………….:
The two year remodel marches on and one of the items I got was the super energy efficient Bosch 24 in. SHX33A02 stainless steel dishwasher. I loved the clean lines of it and every one I know who has a Bosch says it is definitely the way to go.
This particular model is not by any means their top of the line model, but I am one who does not need a huge array of washing options. I tend to like to use the on and off button and that is it, so this machine keeps it simple with only three wash cycles to choose from and a simple on and off button. All of these are tucked out of site on the top inside of the unit, so a clean and beautiful stainless finish is all you see in the front.
Energy Efficiency
The technology of this machine is absolutely mind boggling. The dishwasher senses how much soil is in the water coming off the dishes at various locations within the dishwasher and adjusts the water spray accordingly. You can sometimes save an entire cycle of water depending on how dirty the dishes actually are.
Because of the energy efficiency of the unit, I was able to get an energy rebate from my utility company!
Using this Dishwasher
This dishwasher is easy to use with only a few buttons to choose from because of its simplicity. It is easier to keep clean because the control panel is simply not visible from the front.
The rack is adjustable for larger items and there are many choices for configuration. It does have one larger silverware basket instead of the two smaller ones in the more upper end models, but this is great with me.
This dishwasher is QUIET QUIET QUIET!!! You will not know when it is on because there are no indicators on this model. You must be very cautious when opening because it is really hot! I no longer throw last minute dishes after I have started it. I figure between the three cycles, it is an average of an hour before the dishes are finished and then they will be hot, so I just leave it alone for a couple hours.
It is very important to clean out the filter of this dishwasher. It does not do any garbage disposaling. I think a lot of the previous complaints are related to the fact that people are sometimes not aware that this is even remotely a possibility. The stainless interior is more susceptible to smells, so clean the filter! The dishwasher also operates at a higher level of performance when it is clean.
Side Note:
This dishwasher is available in white or black as well at varying price points. The stainless is the most expensive version of the three. You can also integrate this machine into the cabinetry with a custom panel because the controls are on the top rim of the door.
Measurements
Our cabinetry was put in very precisely so the measurements were extremely important to us. Overall height of this dishwasher is 33.88 inches. Width is 23.56 inches and the depth is 22.44 inches. If there is not room for error, then these are pretty important.
Lastly -
Like laundry, I have historically found myself swimming in dishes, and this machine is a vast improvement over any machine I have used in the past. It is simple to operate with the high efficiency that is needed for this house!
I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a very reliable and decently priced attractive dishwasher!
