| kkaz's Full Review: Bosch SHY66C02 / SHY66C06 24 in. Built-in Dishwash... |
I recently bought all new appliances for my kitchen and I went for the Viking range as I felt they were good, solid appliances. However, I decided that for the dishwasher I would go for Bosch and I wanted to go for a front loading washer this time so I went for a Bosch washer and dryer as well.
I bought the SHY 66C05 which is stainless steel. I loved the look of the appliance both inside and out. I had read quite a few reviews and some friends of mine have also bought Bosch and are more than pleased. It seems to be the trendiest dishwasher to have at the moment!
This dishwasher is loaded with great features. The kitchen company installed it along with the rest of the appliances so I dont anything about that. What I do know is HOW WELL it cleans. Im serious, this machine is brilliant. I have four kids and a husband, so this thing is on every day. I have washed roasting pans, to wine glasses, to plastic cups and Ive had no problem with anything. In fact last night I washed a lasagne dish that had been sitting in the oven all week and it came out spotless!
Heres a rundown of its features:
There are six programes
· Power Scrub Plus (161 W)
· Scrub Wash (150° W)
· Regular Wash (140° W)
· Delicate/Economy Wash (120° W)
· Quick Wash (104° W)
· Rinse & Hold
I usually use regular or scrub wash. The quick wash is also great if the machine is full of cups and glasses.
It has two extra functions 1. Optimiser which reduces the programme time by up to 40%, I have never used this though and 2. Top Rack Only which washes the upper basket! I have used this once just to try it out and it worked fine and it would be very handy for when my husband and I are there on our own during the week!
All the controls are hidden in the top of the door but when closed there is a digital display which tells the amount of time left and if the dishwasher needs salt (for the built-in water softener) and rinse agent (keeps spots of glasses). The full length ss door looks really good in the kitchen.
There is no element in the bottom of the machine as it has a Flow Through Heater, works like an electric shower, thus saving plastic items from melting. This machine is extremely quiet. My kitchen and den are open plan and it never interferes with conversation or TV. I only know its working because of the digital display.
One thing I did worry about was the lack of a food grinder but apparently there is no need for one as the Bosch heats the water so hot the food is broken down and flushed away. What is left is caught on a filter which I have had to rinse under the tap a few times but its no big deal and makes the dishwasher a lot quieter!
The rack layout is different compared to my old Maytag but the tub is extra tall inside and I can fit in long stemmed wine glasses and big dinner plates, which is great.
Overall I am more than pleased with this dishwasher and I would whole heartedly recommend this machine to anyone.
