naphtalia's Full Review: Boucheron 1.7oz Eau De Toilette Spray
When I became a vegetarian, my body chemistry changed. Scents that once smelled like bug-spray on me, suddenly had wonderful, rich and enticing odors. So it was that the perfume that smelled the most vile in days gone by, has become my all-time, hands-down, no-holds-barred favorite scent. That scent is Boucheron for Women by the house of Boucheron.
The biggest problem with Boucheron is its cost. At $85 a bottle most of the time, it is prohibitive. I simply can't afford it. I found out, however, that sales of all perfumes are way down! On a trip to a Jones Store in Missouri, I was offered that same $85 bottle of perfume as part of a gift package that included a bottle of Boucheron lotion for $70. When I seemed hesitant, the saleslady through in a gift with purchase of a rather sizable Oscar de La Renta package of products. I was ready to say yes when she threw in a purse sized atomizer of Boucheron Eau de toilette, a small bottle of body veil and a mini Boucheron shower gel. I decided it was too good a deal to pass up. Before I left, she had also thrown in testers of 4 other perfumes. Clearly there are deals to be had as of this writing.
Boucheron is a great scent. It is a great blend of fruits, florals, and woods. I do recommend applying it in a room where others won't have to smell you to begin with. It takes about 10-20 minutes to mature to a point where one is not offensive. Once it matures, you'll smell a blend of tangerine, bitter orange and apricot. The floral essence seems to be mostly jasmine and perhaps some orange blossom. There is also a little essence of ylang-ylang which is a fragrance I'm not usually crazy about, but which is lovely here.
Boucheron is classified as a "refined, oriental, floral fragrance." Of all the perfumes I enjoy, this is the one floral. I tend towards woodsy and spicy scents. This one is fruits and flowers, but doesn't gag with a cloying sweetness. The scent is very fresh, and once it has matured, very pleasant. It is incredibly well balanced.
In reading up on the scent, I find that it is recommended for evening wear. My mother and sister, who both include meat in their diet, will use Boucheron for night time wear only. It does smell heavier on them and more formal. On myself and on another vegetarian cousin, however, it seems to smell much lighter. I am using this for daytime wear and since it came so cheap, I've been wearing it everyday and getting lots of compliments.
If you are looking for a great perfume and some great deals, head down to your nearest department store and try Boucheron. Who knows what else you might come home with?
