I purchased this printer a month ago. I like this printer a lot. It was easy to set up. Prints a very clear, crisp and dark page. I wanted to get rid of my faithful Xerox P8 because I couldn't set it any more to print uniformly dark lines. This HL-5140 certainly solves this problem. It "sounds" more robust than my other printers: when you close one of its doors, it doesn't sound like cheap plastic. It takes time to get used to the single sheet feeder so it grabs the piece of paper you hand it correctly. But after a while, I got used to it.
When a 20lb-bond piece of standard paper is printed, it has a tendency to curl: the side edges bend backwards a little bit. I didn't try to fix that as I can live with it.
It can be fussy to grab some types of paper: It accepts Avery labels well and standard envelopes but one day, I wanted to add a return address to an envelope the printer had already printed: the envelope didn't make a second pass; it was all crushed inside the printer. To clearly understand the printer's limitations, I tried another envelope that the printer already printed: it crushed it again. Conclusion: you can pass an envelope only once.
Warming time is fast enough. After a while the "engine" goes to sleep; it is a bit noisy when it kicks off the sleep mode.
Toner cartridges can easily be found on the internet, even the toner refill kits are available on Ebay. But I would not use these kits during the warranty period as this would void the warranty.
