| trepinions's Full Review: Brother HL-5140 Laser Printer |
I owned this printer for 24 hours before returning it. When it receives data and comes out of standby, it draws so much power that the battery backup unit protecting my PC intervenes for a couple of seconds. (The printer was connected to the surge protection section of the UPS, not the battery backup section.) It makes the room lights flicker during printing, AND for a couple of minutes AFTER printing is complete. During, okay, but after? I'm sorry, but a home printer should not nearly cause a brownout. My old laser, and the new one I bought today don't behave like this.
It's noisy for a few minutes after printing a single sheet.
Print quality and speed seemed great. The manual duplex seemed fine, too.
