Pros: The printer is light, small in a pinch could be used as portable.
Cons: The best photo possible takes a significant amount of time.
The Bottom Line: If you are looking for a dependable, affordable printer to handle nearly every project essential in a small office I highly recommend the Brother 420CN!

| lkm111's Full Review: Brother MFC-420CN All-In-One InkJet Printer |
Depending upon your more essential needs this Brother 420CN might very well surprise you with its utility. First on the list of most buyers is price. I like to use the word value to get the most accurate picture of what an item is worth in reality. The Brother 420 beats all competition in its class in this regard. I purchased mine for $105 and had it printing my first document 16 minutes after I got it home.
The second consideration to most of us consumers is QUALITY.
Here again the Brother 420 meets or beats the others in terms durability, number of functions, legibility of control panel, and output speed and clarity. In truth the little printer has more functions than I will ever use one of those being editing and printing directly from a digital camera card. The Brother 420 will produce exceptionally fine photos and documents to meet most any need in a small office.
Finally one would need to consider the operational costs. I was pleasantly surprised the amount of printing I was able to do on the original ink. Several other printers in our office were not near so generous in this aspect. In terms of refill inks it appears to be on a par with the other printers in its class. I would like to sing the praise of a black and white photo I printed with the 420. Just to satisfy my own curiosity I printed the very same picture with another much more expensive printer and asked 6 people if they could tell me which was printed with which. In truth none of them wanted to venture even a guess as the finished product was of comparable quality.
