Cons: Non... Well, it's a lot of $$$ but it's well worth it
The Bottom Line: Its a great stroller that does a lot of what other strollers dont. Its a must have if you live in a big city and do a lot of walking.
triswimmom's Full Review: Bugaboo Frog - Red Standard Stroller
When we were deciding what stroller to buy for our son, we knew that we wanted something that we can use since birth; something where he could sleep in a fully reclined position; and something that would accommodate our son's needs as he grows. Also, we wanted a stroller, which would hopefully eliminate the need for having an entire fleet of strollers.
Since we live in the city and do a lot of walking we wanted a durable stroller, which can handle the curbs and the potholes and all other kinds of terrain. The Bugaboo seemed to fit the bill, so we got it. We are very happy with it so far.
We use it everyday. We even took it on the beach several times (in the two-wheel mode) and it performed great.
The Bugaboo is a very smooth ride, it turns very well, and the big wheels in the back allow you to negotiate curbs and stairs with ease. Baby can be facing you or facing forward. The big wheels can be in the back or in the front depending on the terrain. (You are most likely going to end up keeping the small wheels in the front 99.9% of the time.).
It's a very well thought out design. There are a lot of little features, which make your everyday life easier. Here are some of them:
We loved the bassinet feature. Our son was very comfortable in it. I liked the fact that he did not have to be strapped in, since the walls of the bassinet are nice and high.
When we were using the bassinet we went on several trips. The baby slept in the bassinet at night, so there was no need to bring a pack-n-play or to worry about renting a crib.
The seat is very comfortable, too. It has 3 reclining positions, so when my son falls asleep I just put him in the horizontal position, so he can sleep laying down (not sitting with his head falling on his chest).
If you are going up/down an entire flight of stairs you can carry the stroller (it's very light) by the handle which goes across the seat.
The handle is a nice place to attach small hanging toys to keep you little one occupied. It can get a bit in the way of putting the child in/taking out of the stroller. It's something you have to get used to, or if you don't like it you can remove the handle altogether.
The rain cover is great. It gives excellent protection and has a nice window/vent, which you can open so the baby can get some fresh air. The velcro on the window allows you to roll it up to keep it open.
If you are going out on a rainy day and know that you are not going to need the sun canopy, you can take the fabric off (it's easy) and use the canopy ribs to support the rain cover. It looks very futuristic (my husband loves it!) and this way baby gets a nice view of the outside while being fully protected from the rain.
You can detach the bassinet/seat from the wheels and carry it and use as a free standing seat. It sort of functions like a car seat, where you don't have to wake a sleeping baby and can take him where you are going and where the stroller can't go (like the little examination room in a doctor's office for example).
When in a restaurant, you can put the seat in a fully upright position, and put the push handle down, or to the other side, so the stroller dubs as a high chair.
The push handle is nice and high (and we are tall) and we dont have to be hunched over while pushing the stroller.
The big wheels are far apart, which allows you to take long steps/walk fast without hitting the wheels with your feet. Its not as good when the small wheels are in the front, but its still fine.
The only accessories that we have are the bag hooks, which are very useful and the footmuff.
The footmuff is a must. We started out using a 7am Enfant at first. It was quite nice, but it was sliding all over the place and parts of it were falling out of the stroller. The Bugaboo footmuff is tremendous. It fits the stroller seat like a glove. You have to slide a part of the seat in the pocket of the footmuff, so it stays in place no matter how much the baby wiggles in it.
It's very warm. The footmuff has two zippers that go down each side, so if it's not too cold, you don't have to zip it all the way up. You can then roll down the top and attach it to the buttons on the side so it does not flop around.
I think this is it for now. I am sure there are some features that I missed.
