foolishstrgazr's Full Review: Bushnell Voyager 78-9570 (570 x 60mm) Telescope
I bought this telescope years ago and I am still surprised it is on the market (and for such a high price, too). Bushnell pulls you in with its "rotary eyepiece" system. This is convenient when you want to switch between eyepieces quickly, but the quality of the optics is very poor and you cannot swap out the eyepieces to improve them. Also, one of the eyepieces is a 4 mm (The other two are a 20mm and a 10mm)which is virtually useless for stargazing.
However, the worse part of this particular scope is the tripod. It is extremely light and thus unstable. Attached to it are a series of slow motion controls, but I found that the controls would often "skip" or "jump" past the object I was trying to focus on and I would have to backtrack.
In conclusion, if you found an extremely excellent deal on a tripod and reattached this scope to it, this scope could serve as a decent portable scope that you could let your kid use while you worked with something of better quality. But for the price why bother? You could have twins and buy two fo Bushnell's standard 60mm scopes for the same price(which bizarrely enough come on more stable stands and allow you to swap eyepieces).
